God's Gift

We would like you share with you God's Greatest Gift to mankind. |

It is God's Greatest Gift! ". . . the gift of God is eternal life . . ." (Heaven) Romans 6:23b. But man is on earth, separated from God. No one can expect to earn this great gift or buy his way into it. The Bible says, "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is a gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast" (Ephesians 2:8 & 9). |

Although heaven is a free gift, man has a problem in getting there. Why? Because he is a sinner. Romans 3:23 says, "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." Sin is not just hurtful actions that we do, but is also negative, cutting words that we say, and evil thoughts that we think. Because man is a sinner, he is separated from God because sin can not be in God's presence. "For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee" (Psalm 5:4). Man is separated from God by sin, but how does he attempt to remedy this problem? |

Through religious efforts, man tries to bridge the gap between himself and God in heaven. Some believe that by taking Holy Communion or by being baptized, they can get to heaven. But the Bible says, "Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us. . ." (Titus 3:5). Since religion fails, man still has a problem. But how does God view man and his sin? |

The wonderful news is God loves us! Jeremiah 31:3 says, "Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love." However, the same Bible that speaks of His love also tells of His justice. He must punish us because of our sin. Romans 6:23 says, "For the wages of sin is death. . . " (Hell). God slams down His gavel of judgment and points His condemning finger as we stand alone before Him. We are truly worthy of this spiritual separation and condemnation. But God, in His love, knew that His penalty for sin would separate us from Him forever. |

Therefore, He made a way of escape through the death of His Son: "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8). Jesus' sacrificial death on the cross defeated sin and made a bridge between God's heaven and earth. |

Because of this sacrifice, God can now accept us because Christ's death is a substitute or payment for the penalty we owe. Jesus can do that because He was sinless, and He can make us to be righteous, or in a right position before God (II Cor. 5:21). Notice the open hands of God the Father as He is now willing to accept us on Christ's behalf. We are no longer standing alone and condemned! The important question is, how does a person take advantage of this substitute? It is only by faith that we can do so. |

True faith is reaching out and trusting Jesus Christ alone as the only bridge to heaven. I Timothy 2:5 says, "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus." Jesus made the way to heaven very clear when He said, ". . . I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the father, but by me" (John 14:6). Does this make sense to you? Wouldn't you like to receive God's Greatest Gift? |

We must look to Jesus alone for salvation, shunning any belief that opposes Him. This was illustrated by a group of people at Thessalonica. They ". . . turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God" (I Thessalonians 1:9b). A person not only needs to repent from his sin, but also receive the Savior |

Are you willing to pray a prayer something like this: "Lord, I know that I have sinned and am separated from you and cannot save myself. But I believe that you love me and sent your son Jesus to die on the cross to make a way of escape. I realize that trusting in myself or my own good works cannot get me to heaven, and I am willing to rely fully upon Christ's sacrificial death on the cross to pay my way to heaven. I am trusting Him alone for my salvation. From this point on, I desire to look to Him for salvation and abundant life as I desire to grow as a Christian. In Jesus' name, Amen." |

If you just prayed this prayer, the Bible has some wonderful news for you! John 3:36 says, "He that believeth on the son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on Him." Which picture is true of you right now? |
